Our Fragrance Philosophy

We use a blend of synthetic fragrance oils and essential oils. We only use synthetic fragrances that do not contain harmful VOCs (volatile organic compounds), paraffin, parabens, phthalates, or sulfates.

Why do we use synthetic fragrances and not just essential oils? Synthetic fragrances offer a variety of scents that burn stronger and last longer. Essential oils have a great cold throw (strength of scent when wax is solid) but a much weaker hot throw (strength of scent when burning). We have found a good balance using the two together.

Our Wax Blend

We use a premium plant-derived blend of organic coconut, soy, and palm wax, all sustainably grown and manufactured in the US. The benefits of this blend are listed below:

It's worth noting that while plant-derived waxes, like soy wax, are often considered more eco-friendly than petroleum-based paraffin wax, they have some flaws. Soy wax can sometimes be challenging and is associated with GMOs in soy crop production. Again, the soy wax we use is grown and manufactured in the US, making it our best choice.

The problems surrounding palm wax are related to the mass deforestation of tropical rainforests in countries such as Malaysia and Indonesia. People and organizations are working toward saving these vital forests, but still, there is a long way to go. Like our coconut and soy waxes, our palm wax is grown and manufactured in the US. 

Our Wood Wicks and Recyclable Candle Vessels

We use only crackling wood wicks made from FSC-certified wood. They burn much cleaner than cotton wicks, and while they don’t get the carbon build-up that needs to be trimmed off of cotton wicks, they will develop a slight amount of ash at the tip of the wick. The ash can be easily broken off when cool before relighting or cut using a wick trimmer.

All of our candle vessels are recyclable. We also encourage repurposing the vessels into something useful for your home or office.

Our Candle Labels and Dustcovers

We have partnered with companies that share our same environmental commitment. Our labels are printed on premium hemp paper with water-based inks, and our dust covers are printed on 100% Post-Consumer Recycled Paper.
